How are the servings?

Could definitely be better.

With only 2 servings a day, this product isn’t your best option for natural testosterone boosting.

After each servings, the effects will wear off after a few hours. And if you’re looking to boost your testosterone, you need these effects for as long as possible.

Ideally you want 3 – 4 servings a day. This keeps the supply of nutrients to your body constant, and your T levels continually on the rise.

What about the ingredients in Total Strength + Performance?

Could be better.

The first problem here is with how the ingredients are laid out – they’re all in proprietary blends.

This is when ingredients are grouped together under one single value, rather than individual ones.

Branch Chain Aminos

Non essential amino acids that help with benefits such as more efficient protein consumption.

This may help fuel recovery and help build muscle mass.

Beta Alanine 

One of the better options out there for performance – but it does have its drawbacks.

Although Beta Alanine has been seen to buffer the acid in your muscles, which can help to improve power output and endurance – it can also cause side effects.

D-Aspartic Acid 

A better option for testosterone boosting.

DAA is a core nutrient for boosting T. Used for reactions in the brain that help to promote the luteinzing hormone (LH).

This is important. LH, is the precursor to both testosterone and growth hormone and will help to increase overall T.

Mucuna Pruriens 

Also known as Velvet Bean, Mucuna Pruriens are also good.

Full of L-Dopa, this nutrient increases the amount of dopamine in your body, and promotes calmness.

This all helps to reduce cortisol, your body’s stress hormone – known to directly interfere with T-levels.

The less cortisol you have in your system the better.

Eurycoma Longifolia 

Not a great option.

Also known as LongJack, this a commonly marketed testosterone booster that has very little evidence for it boosting T.

Studies have shown that this herb has no effect when it comes to the male hormone, and at most only mildly raises libido.

Stinging Nettle

A better choice.

Stinging Nettle contains the component Beta Sitosterol, which helps to reduce activity of Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG).

SHBG is a protein in your body that binds to testosterone and strips it of its anabolic potency. Essentially making the hormone useless.

By reducing SHBG, you have more testosterone available and circulating in your blood stream.

Luteolin 

An all natural estrogen suppressant.

Luteolin is typically found in citrus fruits like lemons and is a great hormone regulator.

In a study that examined over 1000 natural nutrients, Luteolin was seen to be the most effective for reducing the female hormone and its overall effectiveness.

Resveratrol 

One of the better options for blood flow.

Reseveratrol doesn’t improve testosterone levels – but it may help with the overall absorption of nutrients in Onnit’s supplement.

Black Pepper

Again, Black Pepper is another nutrient that only helps with absorption.

Ingredients Bottom Line:

On the whole, this isn’t the best nutrient profile on the market for a testosterone booster.

The first problem is the proprietary blend. You don’t know how much of each ingredient you’re getting, or how effective it will be overall.

Not only that, there’s also an issue with side effects from the Beta Alanine, and there are also a few ineffective ingredients in there too.

It’s a real mix of good and bad here – definitely not the best we’ve seen.


Side Effects

The main nutrient you have to worry about here is the Beta Alanine.

Although good for boosting performance, Beta Alanine has been linked to causing paresthesia – an itching in both the hands and face.

It’s not harmful – but it can be incredibly distracting to a session that requires complete focus.
