Review Overview – What does AD-3 PCT do?
Advertised most on the Amazon.com website, AD-3 is a natural supplement that aims to help you after a prohormone cycle.
However, there seems to be a few problems with the formula.
On the website, this product claims to do the following things (these points are verbatim):
- Aromatase inhibitor
- Crush cortisol
- Lean dry gains
- Liver and GH support
- Destroy estrogen
It sounds appealing (ignoring that the first and the last point are the same thing), but the only way to know for sure is to study the ingredients, what people are saying and the amount of servings the product has.
Don’t worry I’ve done all the hard work for you and am ready with my verdict. Read on to see my findings.
How does AD-3 work?
AD-3 is unfortunately one of those product that has 1 serving a day. It recommends taking 2 capsules before bed, but I disagree with this strategy.
Yes, nighttime is when these hormones start secreting the most in our bodies, but you have to wait another 24 hours before your next serving. This could lead to your levels slipping back down to their original position – and you don’t want that.
The best method is to have a PCT supplement that has 3 – 4 servings a day. This keeps the body constantly topped up with what it needs to keep progressing back to optimum levels. I’ve reviewed that do this on the site. Check them out on my top rated.
In terms of the ingredients I was impressed by the choices, but disappointed with the variety. With only three to choose from, if your body doesn’t react well with what’s being used for it’s process, you’re not going to get the benefits.
Let’s run through them:
This is a strain of DHEA thought to help after a cycle. As a natural hormone the DHEA can be converted into either testosterone or estrogen depending on what the body is lacking in.
However, results have proven to be unreliable, and many of the studies performed with this hormone have been performed on menopausal women – who definitely have not been through a cycle.
Velvet Bean (Mucuna Pruriens)
This is the best ingredient in this product. Mucuna Pruriens are full of L-Dopa. This helps to restore the body’s supply of dopamine that can be depleted after a cycle.
It has been seen to help raise testosterone which can help restart T-Levels after a cycle, and also growth hormone.
Prolactin levels have also been seen to lower using this nutrient, they’re usually raised after coming PHs and can lead to side effects like discharge from the nipples.
This is purely for detoxification of the liver after a cycle. It promotes organ functions and is one of the best natural nutrients to take after methylated prohormones.
As an added bonus it also helps promote protein synthesis in the liver.
The best ingredient in here has got to be the generous supply of Mucuna Pruriens. The only issue I find with this product is that it has only used one ingredient for each process.
There’s no help for any free testosterone, and if certain nutrients didn’t have that much of an effect on you, there’s no back-up nutrient to pick up the slack. Which one guy on Amazon has already picked up on:
UPDATE L-DOPA QUALITY
Since this review we were informed by one of our readership that the L-DOPA value in this product has dropped significantly.
We did some investigating and came across this comment on Amazon:
We have to agree, without as much L-DOPA, it’s not going to have as much effect on your prolactin levels. You’re better off getting your PCT from elsewhere.
Are there side effects?
As far as the ingredients are concerned, I can’t see these causing any problems to a guy taking these after a cycle.
However there was another report on Amazon that claimed otherwise.
If you already suffer from heart problems, or experienced any trouble with it while on your cycle, I suggest you steer clear of this product.
How long should you use it for?
In my honest opinion I think you should use any natural PCT for around 3 months. This fully exposes your body to the nutrients it needs.
This method gives your testosterone levels plenty of time to pick up while estrogen is being continuously blocked and your liver is being detoxified.
How much does it cost?
This is one of the cheapest products we’ve seen at $21.29. But don’t be fooled, it does miss out a lot of key ingredients that would help you fully recover after a cycle.
AD-3 PCT Review Conclusion
After looking over this product, I’ve seen that it has good ingredients that would serve you well after a cycle. However, the amount of ingredients, just isn’t there. One nutrient for each function may not give you the best results.
A big drawback has been the news that they’ve dialed back the amount of L-DOPA in the Mucuna Pruriens, why they’ve done this is a mystery, but it definitely doesn’t benefit your PCT.
There needs to be more focus on each area with ingredients like D-Aspartic Acid, Vitamin D3, Stinging Nettle, Zinc and Magneisum. Things of that nature, proven ingredients that are known to get results.
The servings need work as well. Although 2 capsules before bed sounds convenient, it’s not doing your body as many favors as it could be.
What you want is a supp that has 3 – 4 individual servings throughout the day. This keeps testosterone constantly on the rise, estrogen at bay and your liver detoxified with constant top-ups every few hours.
This is not the best out there. I suggest you check my top PCT supplements page to find the recovery aid that’s right for you.
